Mount Independence Revolutionary Supplies

Lost Treasure VT • Addison County County
Description
Addison County legend of a large Revolutionary War supply cache buried on or near Mount Independence overlooking Lake Champlain — opposite Fort Ticonderoga.
Historical Notes
Mount Independence was fortified in 1776–1777 as the American counterpart to Fort Ticonderoga across Lake Champlain. Folklore says a large cache of Revolutionary War supplies was buried on the peninsula before the post was abandoned. The state historic site preserves earthworks; treasure lore persists in Addison County compilations.
