Description
Among the earliest churches in Burnet County; congregation at Lyman Wight's Mormon Mill colony on Hamilton Creek, established 1851.
Historical Notes
Lyman Wight led a Mormon colony to Hamilton Creek falls in 1851, establishing Mormon Mill near present Marble Falls. The Handbook of Texas records a congregation at Mormon Mill among the earliest churches in Burnet County. The mill and colony declined after Wight's death in 1858, but the Hamilton Creek country remained a landmark of Burnet County pioneer religion and industry.
