Morgan's Point Ferry Owner Cache

Lost Treasure TX • Harris County County
Description
Houston Ship Channel legend that a ferry operator buried a treasure cache near Morgan's Point on the upper Galveston Bay shore — then died before he could recover it.
Historical Notes
Morgan's Point sits at the narrow head of Galveston Bay where the Houston Ship Channel begins. Before railroads and highways, ferries and shallow-draft vessels connected Houston to the Gulf through this corridor. The Rocker Box Harris and Chambers County compilations repeat guidebook lore of a ferry owner who buried valuables near Morgan's Point and was killed before reclaiming them. Some versions place the site in adjacent Chambers County. Heavy petrochemical development, the Barbours Cut ship channel, and shoreline bulkheads have altered the waterfront. Coordinates mark Morgan's Point on the bay side of the peninsula.
