Mission Ysleta (Corpus Christi de la Isleta) Treasure Legend

Lost Treasure TX • El Paso County County
Description
El Paso legend of colonial church plate and Pueblo-refugee valuables concealed near Ysleta Mission — the first mission in present-day Texas, founded after the 1680 Pueblo Revolt.
Historical Notes
Ysleta Mission (Corpus Christi de la Isleta) was established in 1682 when Tigua, Piro, and Tompiro refugees fled the Pueblo Revolt in New Mexico. It is the oldest continuously occupied settlement in Texas. Regional treasure tradition holds that mission communities buried sacramental silver, trade goods, and personal wealth before Apache raids and periodic Rio Grande floods. The 1742 and 1829 floods destroyed earlier structures; the present church dates to 1851 reconstruction. Coordinates mark Mission Ysleta del Sur Pueblo in El Paso. Active parish — historical legend only.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
