Mission San Francisco Xavier on the Guadalupe Treasure Legend

Lost Treasure TX • Victoria County County
Description
Victoria County legend of mission goods buried during the 1756–1758 San Francisco Xavier mission relocation on the lower Guadalupe River near Mission Valley.
Historical Notes
After the San Xavier missions failed on the San Gabriel, friars and Indians moved temporarily to the Guadalupe River (1756–1758) before abandoning the effort. A state historical marker near Mission Valley north of Victoria marks the site. This relocation sat on the earlier La Bahía mission path — Espíritu Santo had occupied the Guadalupe from 1726 to 1749. Layered mission history along the river produced multiple cache legends in Victoria County guides. Coordinates approximate Mission Valley on the Guadalupe River in Victoria County.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
