Mission Purísima Concepción de los Hasinai Treasure Legend — Douglass

Lost Treasure TX • Nacogdoches County County
Description
East Texas legend of mission silver buried near Purísima Concepción de los Hasinai before the 1730 removal of Querétaro missions to the Colorado River and then San Antonio.
Historical Notes
Nuestra Señora de la Purísima Concepción de los Hasinai was founded in 1716 near Douglass in Nacogdoches County. In 1730 it was briefly relocated to Barton Springs on the Colorado River (present Austin) before moving to San Antonio in 1731 as Mission Concepción. A state historical marker about seven miles south of Douglass off FM 225 marks the East Texas site. Folklore describes caches left behind during the hurried 1730–1731 relocations. Coordinates approximate the Douglass-area mission site in Nacogdoches County.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
