Mission Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria (San Xavier) Treasure Legend

Lost Treasure TX • Milam County County
Description
San Xavier legend of mission valuables buried near Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria before the 1755 collapse of the San Gabriel River mission chain.
Historical Notes
Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria was the third San Xavier mission (1746). All three missions were abandoned by 1755 after floods, drought, and Apache attacks. A final relocation to the Guadalupe River lasted only until 1758. Central Texas treasure guides tie the San Xavier failure to buried mine workings and church silver along the San Gabriel — distinct from the later San Sabá and Los Almagres mining legends. Coordinates approximate the San Xavier mission area on the San Gabriel River.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
