Miner's Delight Spring Gulch Lost Ore

Lost Treasure WY • Fremont County County
Description
Spring Gulch legend of the Miner's Delight Mine — Jonathan Pugh's Peabody Hill strike that produced over $5 million in gold ore yet left treasure hunters imagining undiscovered pockets in the Hamilton City ruins.
Historical Notes
Gold was found in Spring Gulch in 1867; the camp was first called Hamilton City but took the name of its richest mine, Miner's Delight. A ten-stamp mill crushed ore before shutdowns in 1874 and 1882 and intermittent revivals through the Depression era. BLM-managed ruins three miles east of Atlantic City remain unrestored, keeping lost-paystreak folklore alive on the National Register townsite.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
