Description
Historic East Austin elementary school; original building 1911, named for Rev. August Metz of St. David's Episcopal Church.
Historical Notes
Served Mexican American and working-class East Austin neighborhoods for most of the twentieth century. The 1911 building was replaced but the school name and site remain culturally significant. Recorded in Austin African American and Hispanic education histories; site at 84 Robert T. Martinez Jr. Street.
