Description
Mason ISD campus in the county seat; successor to the 1946 consolidated district that absorbed all rural Mason County schools.
Historical Notes
After 1946 consolidation, rural community schools at Art, Hilda, Koockville, Hedwigs Hill, Pontotoc, and other districts merged into Mason ISD. Improved farm roads drew population to the county seat. Mason High School became the sole secondary campus for the sprawling ranch county; education levels rose from 18 percent high-school completion in 1950 to 50 percent by 1980.
