Marlin Confederate Treasury Legend — Falls County

Lost Treasure TX • Falls County County
Description
Marlin in Falls County — hot-mineral-springs resort town with Reconstruction-era legend of Confederate funds buried in the limestone hills between Waco and Bryan.
Historical Notes
Marlin became a famed health resort after the Civil War when mineral springs were developed, drawing visitors on the Houston & Texas Central Railroad between Waco and Bryan-College Station. East Central Texas treasure compilations include Falls County variants of Confederate treasury burial tales — often describing boxes of gold hidden in limestone outcrops and creek caves when retreating forces feared Union occupation. No authenticated recovery. Coordinates approximate downtown Marlin. Much of the surrounding country is private ranch land.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
