Lone Oak Bayou Lafitte Cache

Lost Treasure TX • Harris County County
Description
East Houston legend that Jean Lafitte buried treasure in or near Lone Oak Bayou — a sluggish coastal prairie stream flowing toward Galveston Bay through Pasadena and Channelview.
Historical Notes
Lone Oak Bayou drains the east Houston industrial plain into the Houston Ship Channel near the Fred Hartman Bridge. Lafitte-era smugglers favored bayous that reached deep into Harris County without passing customs houses. The Rocker Box Harris County compilation (spelled "Loan Oak Bayou" in some editions) places Lafitte treasure along this waterway. Metal-detecting clubs have searched the bayou banks for decades with no verified bullion find. Related entry: "Clear Creek Lafitte Cache — League City" (Galveston County portion of the same regional folklore). Coordinates approximate Lone Oak Bayou near Channelview.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
