Logan Santa Fe Trail Strongbox — Quay County

Lost Treasure NM • Quay County County
Description
Logan legend of a Santa Fe Trail strongbox buried near the Quay County ranch town — on the eastern New Mexico branch of the historic freight route toward Fort Union.
Historical Notes
Logan sits on the High Plains in northeastern Quay County near the Texas border, in country crossed by Santa Fe Trail freight and later railroad spurs feeding Clovis and Tucumcari. Remote trail camps often figure in strongbox folklore. The statewide entry "Point of Rocks Treasure — Colfax County" documents a separate $40,000 gold-coin burial far north on the trail. Logan-area tales more commonly describe freighter payrolls on the eastern plains cutoff. Coordinates mark Logan in northeastern Quay County north of Tucumcari.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
