Llano County Courthouse Square Churches — Llano

Historic Church TX • Llano County County
Description
Historic Protestant congregations around the Llano county-seat square; town incorporated during the 1890s iron-boom era after decades of frontier trade.
Historical Notes
Llano was chosen county seat June 14, 1856, under a live oak near the present Roy Inks Bridge site. By the 1880s banks, newspapers, and granite sheds surrounded the 1893 courthouse. The 1886–1893 iron boom drew thousands to Llano before fires and failed mines ended the "Pittsburgh of the West" dream. Churches flanking the square served merchants, quarrymen, and ranchers through the granite-industry decades.
