Liver Eating Johnson Yellowstone Stage Station Cache — Prairie County

Lost Treasure MT • Prairie County County
Description
Terry legend of Liver Eating Johnson's meager Yellowstone River stage station — the woodhawk stop downriver from Huntley toward Miles City where road agents preyed on coaches after the 1877 line opened.
Historical Notes
The 1936 Fallon County Times stage article lists Omar Hoskins and Thomas McGirl's Huntley ferry station, then notes that farther down the Yellowstone toward Miles City the frontiersman "Liver Eating" Johnson operated a station. Travelers remembered Johnson's squalid stop more vividly than the food; treasure writers pair the remote stations with concealed road-agent plunder along the Miles City–Bozeman corridor. Coordinates mark Terry, Montana on the Yellowstone River between Billings and Miles City. Private ranch land — legend only.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
