Little River Crossing Cache — Holland

Lost Treasure TX • Bell County County
Description
Holland and the Little River south of Temple — folklore of Civil War–era payrolls buried at low-water crossings on the route between Belton and Austin.
Historical Notes
Holland (originally Dutch settlement "New Hope") lies on the Little River in southern Bell County between Temple and Austin. The river was a major barrier and crossing point for 19th-century wagon and cattle traffic. Bell County Confederate and Reconstruction treasure variants describe boxes of gold hidden at river crossings when retreating forces feared capture. Holland appears in regional lists near the Lampasas–Little River country south of Temple. Coordinates approximate Holland on the Little River.
