Little Bighorn Battlefield Indian Buried Effects — Big Horn County

Lost Treasure MT • Big Horn County County
Description
Little Bighorn legend of money, watches, and personal effects from Custer's Last Stand buried by Lakota and Cheyenne warriors — with a timed letter said to reveal the location a century after June 25, 1876.
Historical Notes
The Rocker Box Big Horn County compilation records that personal effects of men killed at the Battle of the Little Bighorn were buried by Indians, with a letter timed to be opened June 25, 1976, indicating the location. The June 1876 fight along the Little Bighorn and Reno Creek draws treasure hunters and historians to Big Horn County southeast of Billings; battlefield metal-detecting is restricted on NPS lands. Coordinates mark Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument near Crow Agency. Respect tribal and federal regulations — legend only.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
