Lewis & Clark Silver Peace Medals Trail

Lost Treasure ID • Nez Perce County County
Description
1805–1806 expedition folklore of rare solid-silver Jefferson peace medals distributed to tribal chiefs along the Idaho Lewis and Clark corridor — many unaccounted for and sought between Lewiston, Spalding, and Orofino.
Historical Notes
Lewis and Clark carried some 326 Birmingham-minted silver medals; only a handful are documented today. Legends of America suggests several may still lie along the Idaho expedition route through Lewiston, Spalding, Orofino, and neighboring camps. Coordinates mark Lewiston as the western anchor of the trail legend — individual medal sites are unknown.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
