Description
Legion Creek southwest of Packsaddle Mountain in the Oxford topo area. Tributary of the Llano Uplift where fine placer gold occurs downstream of Riley Mountains and Los Almagres prospect country.
Historical Notes
Legion Creek is named for the Legion Valley country in Llano County where nineteenth-century ranching and Indian-raid history intersect with the 1873 Packsaddle Mountain fight pursuit corridor. The creek lies on the Oxford quadrangle near Silver Creek and Legion Valley massacre historical traditions. Regional gold guides include Llano Uplift streams for fine hobby placer.
