Larimore Diggings — Packsaddle Mountain

Gold Mining Site TX • Llano County County
Description
Historical Larimore diggings on Packsaddle Mountain — 1860 ore hauls from rediscovered Spanish workings described in J. Frank Dobie's Blanco Mine tradition. Private ranch land; reference only.
Historical Notes
J. Frank Dobie's Coronado's Children records that Llano settler Larimore rediscovered old Spanish diggings on Packsaddle Mountain. In 1860 Larimore and Jim Rowland removed hundreds of pounds of bullet-grade metal before Larimore diverted a gully to bury the mine entrance; Rowland carved his initials on a marker stone. Regional mineral histories treat the diggings as lead/silver prospecting with gold traces rather than a major gold producer. Related entry "Packsaddle Mountain — Llano County Prospecting" marks the ridge district; Sam Bass and Blanco Mine treasure legends appear in separate treasure pins. Southern Llano County ranch land — no public access. Do not trespass.
