Lakeshore Iron Coffin Cache — Ouachita Parish

Lost Treasure LA • Ouachita Parish County
Description
Monroe Lakeshore legend of valuables buried near the spot where a girl's iron coffin was unearthed — tied to documented local folklore about the Sicard neighborhood discovery.
Historical Notes
Ouachita Parish History records that a girl in an iron coffin was dug up in Lakeshore and that folklore claimed she haunted the discovery site; the blogger located one contemporary news reference to the ghost story. Iron-coffin burials in the nineteenth century sometimes accompanied wealthy families who cached jewelry and specie separately from formal estates. Lakeshore and Bayou DeSiard suburbs east of Monroe developed on former plantation lands. Coordinates mark Lakeshore Drive in the Sicard neighborhood east of Monroe where the iron-coffin story is localized. Residential area — respect private property; legend only.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
