Lake Bistineau Gold — Peggy's Island

Lost Treasure LA • Bossier / Webster Parish County
Description
Northwest Louisiana legend of six outlaws who cached over a million dollars in gold on Peggy's Island in Lake Bistineau before a violent falling-out — treasure never recovered.
Historical Notes
Lake Bistineau folklore tells of six bandits who hid a fortune worth more than a million dollars on Peggy's Island (also rendered Peggys Island) in the lake east of Shreveport–Bossier City. Per regional retellings, the outlaws turned on one another before any could recover the hoard. Treasure hunters have searched the island and lakebed for generations without authenticated recovery. Kiss Country 93.7 and Lake Bistineau historical articles keep the legend active in Bossier and Webster parishes. Coordinates mark Peggy's Island area on Lake Bistineau.
