Description
Kuskokwim River Region Alaska This large region is 400 miles long and 100 miles wide. The land is at sea level for the most part. It is the drainage basin for the Kuskokwim River and its tributaries lying south of the Yukon River. Place gold was discovered along the Kuskokwim River in 1898. Mining of the area was not in full bore until 1908. The total production through 1959 was 640,084 ounces of gold.
