Klondike Frank Fruit Jar Gold — Dawson Border

Lost Treasure AK • Yukon-Koyukuk Census Area County
Description
Klondike legend of a Pennsylvania stamper who brought home sample jars of dust while a far larger cache in fruit jars remains hidden on his claim near the Alaska–Canada border — disturbed cabin floorboards hinting at a robbery after his mysterious death.
Historical Notes
A prospector remembered as Frank from Welsh Hill, Pennsylvania, struck rich ground near Dawson around the 1897–1901 Klondike rush, returning east with sample gold in fruit jars while claiming far more remained cached. When he returned north he was found dead in his frozen cabin with walls and floors torn up as if searched. A stranger's letter announced his death; his sister found the body preserved by sub-zero cold and suspected foul play. Friends believed the main hoard was hidden off-site in fruit jars like those he had shown at home — a Klondike personal-cache story fifty miles from the Alaska border.
