Fayette County legend of the Kirk gang burying a large amount of stolen money in what is now Laurel Cave — an outlaw cave cache in the Laurel Highlands.
Historical Notes
The Kirk gang operated as highway robbers in southwestern Pennsylvania in the nineteenth century. Compiled guides credit the gang with concealing stolen cash in Laurel Cave near Uniontown. The tradition joins Laurel Hill Army payroll and Uniontown silver-bar cave lore in Fayette County.
