Description
Railroad-era school at Kingsland on the Llano–Colorado confluence; cotton gin and Antlers Hotel country before Highland Lakes recreation transformed the town.
Historical Notes
Kingsland grew after the 1892 railroad extension with a cotton gin, trading businesses, and the Antlers Hotel. Population reached 750 by 1907 before fires and rail competition to Llano caused decline. Recreational and retirement growth after the 1960s revived Kingsland. The town sits at the junction of the Llano and Colorado rivers above Lake LBJ.
