Kingsland Community Church — Llano County

Historic Church TX • Llano County County
Description
Church serving Kingsland at the Llano and Colorado river junction; railroad-era trade town with Antlers Hotel social life from 1901.
Historical Notes
Kingsland (originally Kingsville) developed after Martin D. King and J. M. Trussell purchased land in 1877. The Austin and Northwestern Railroad reached Kingsland in 1892, and by 1901 the Antlers Hotel anchored town social life. Highland Lakes retirement and recreation revived Kingsland after the mid-1960s. Churches served cotton-gin and railroad families before the Lake LBJ impoundment transformed the river junction country.
