Johnson City LBJ Boyhood Home Pioneer Specie — Blanco County

Lost Treasure TX • Blanco County County
Description
Johnson City legend of pioneer specie buried near the Lyndon B. Johnson Boyhood Home — the Pedernales River town where the future president grew up.
Historical Notes
Lyndon Baines Johnson was born near Stonewall and raised in Johnson City, where his family ran a ranching and political household along the Pedernales. The boyhood home and Johnson's later ranch lands are preserved in the LBJ National Historical Park. Pioneer-ranch specie caches appear throughout Hill Country guidebooks wherever late-nineteenth-century stockmen handled cash far from county-seat banks. Related Fredericksburg-area entries document separate Gillespie County Pedernales variants west of Johnson City. Coordinates approximate the LBJ Boyhood Home and visitor area in Johnson City, Blanco County.
