John Ashley Gang Everglades Loot

Lost Treasure FL • Palm Beach / Martin County County
Description
Treasure Coast outlaw legend of the Ashley Gang burying robbery loot in the Everglades edge near Gomez and the St. Lucie River — booty from 1920s bank and rum-running heists never fully recovered.
Historical Notes
John Ashley and his gang terrorized Florida's southeast coast from 1915 to 1924 with bank robberies, moonshine, and murder. Based in the wild Everglades fringe, they eluded posses through mangrove maze camps. TCPalm and West Palm Beach historical accounts report folklore that Ashley buried strongboxes before his 1924 death in a Sebastian River ambush. Gang members died without revealing all cache sites. The Ashley Ridge and Gomez historic area anchor Martin County outlaw treasure lore distinct from Spanish fleet salvage.
