Jim Rowland Initials Marker Stone — Packsaddle Mountain

Lost Treasure TX • Llano County County
Description
Legend of Jim Rowland's carved-initials marker stone at the buried Blanco Mine entrance on Packsaddle Mountain — the last surface clue before Larimore silted the shaft shut in 1860.
Historical Notes
After Larimore and Rowland removed hundreds of pounds of bullet-grade metal from the Blanco Mine in 1860, Rowland carved his initials on a large stone at the mine entrance. Larimore then diverted a gully to bury the opening; Rowland covered the marker stone with earth. Guidebook folklore imagines the stone still points to sealed Spanish and Anglo workings with unrecovered silver-lead ore. Related gold_site entry "Larimore Diggings — Packsaddle Mountain" documents the historical prospect district separately. Coordinates approximate the Blanco Mine tradition on the southern Packsaddle Mountain slope in eastern Llano County. Private Packsaddle Ranch property.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
