Description
1920 Crown Point legend that Chicago gangster Jim Colosimo buried millions of dollars in diamonds outside the Lake County seat — famed for its jail Dillinger later escaped.
Historical Notes
Colosimo ran Chicago vice and gambling before his 1920 murder; folklore says he cached diamonds near Crown Point. Crown Point's historic jail later held John Dillinger, linking two eras of Indiana gangster treasure lore. No documented recovery appears in compiled Lake County guides.
