Jesse James Loot north of Pottsboro — Grayson County

Lost Treasure TX • Grayson County County
Description
North Grayson County legend of Jesse James outlaw loot buried north of Pottsboro — the sole published Rocker Box entry for Grayson County, possibly now submerged beneath Lake Texoma.
Historical Notes
The Rocker Box Grayson County compilation states that Jesse James is said to have buried loot north of Pottsboro, but notes the site may now be covered by Lake Texoma. TSHA records that outlaw bands led by Jesse James and William C. Quantrill appeared in Sherman during and after the Civil War. Sherman organized the Eleventh Texas Cavalry under William C. Young, and the county was a major Red River trading and cattle-shipping center. Coordinates approximate the Pottsboro–Lake Texoma shoreline north of Sherman. Submerged or private shoreline — legend only; respect Corps of Engineers and park regulations.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
