Jesse James Loot Cheniere Creek — Ouachita Parish

Lost Treasure LA • Ouachita Parish County
Description
West Monroe legend of Jesse James outlaw loot buried near the mouth of Cheniere Creek where it approaches the Ouachita River — one of four Monroe-area stories cited by local detectorists.
Historical Notes
TreasureNet's West Monroe member "point hunter" listed Jesse James loot near the mouth of Cheniere Creek among four known northeast Louisiana cache stories, alongside Limerick Plantation and two Old Camp Place variants. Jesse James folklore permeates Red River and Ouachita Valley border country; Louisiana and Texas anthologies often place raid proceeds in river-bottom caches when outlaw columns moved between Indian Territory and the lower Mississippi. The Cheniere Drew community and I-20 interchange lie west of West Monroe along the historic creek drainage. Coordinates approximate the Cheniere Creek approach to the Ouachita River floodplain west of the twin cities. Submerged or private bottomland — legend only.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
