Jack Davis Truckee River Bullion

Lost Treasure NV • Washoe County County
Description
1870 Comstock outlaw legend of Andrew Jackson "Jack" Davis burying $40,000 in Central Pacific express gold along the Truckee River near Verdi after his Gold Hill gang melted stolen bullion in Six Mile Canyon.
Historical Notes
Davis ran a respectable Gold Hill livery while robbing stages, bullion wagons, and trains across western Nevada from 1859 onward. After the November 4, 1870 Verdi train robbery the gang allegedly buried loot on the Truckee's north bank between Reno and Laughton's Hot Springs. Davis was paroled in 1875 and killed near Warm Springs in 1877; Six Mile Canyon ghost stories still guard the unfound hoard in Washoe County lore.
