Iraan Pecos River Crossing Outlaw Cache — Pecos County

Lost Treasure TX • Pecos County County
Description
East Pecos County folklore of outlaw loot buried near Iraan at a historic Pecos River crossing on the old San Antonio–El Paso road east of Fort Stockton.
Historical Notes
Iraan sits on the Pecos River in eastern Pecos County where US 190 bridges the stream. The town developed with twentieth-century oil discoveries (Yates Field), but the crossing served cattle drives and military traffic long before drilling rigs arrived. West Texas outlaw caches commonly cluster at river bridges and rail depots where payrolls changed hands. The San Antonio–El Paso road east of Fort Stockton followed the Pecos briefly before striking across the mesas toward Ozona. Coordinates mark Iraan on the Pecos River in eastern Pecos County, about 55 miles east of Fort Stockton.
