Inks Lake State Park

Description
Highland Lakes state park on Inks Lake, acquired in 1940 with CCC-planned improvements; opened to the public in 1950.
Historical Notes
Created after LCRA dam construction on the Colorado River. CCC Company 854 extended the scenic parkway from Longhorn Cavern and began park facilities before the camp closed in 1942. Lyndon B. Johnson attended a 1939 flag-raising ceremony with CCC men at the Inks Lake camp.
