Description
Inks Dam legend of a Civilian Conservation Corps camp strongbox from the 1930s Colorado River project between Buchanan Dam and Marble Falls.
Historical Notes
Roy B. Inks Dam impounds Inks Lake on the Colorado River between Buchanan Dam and Lake Lyndon B. Johnson. A Civilian Conservation Corps company worked at nearby Longhorn Cavern State Park in 1934 while LCRA dam construction employed hundreds across Burnet County. CCC and WPA camp folklore occasionally places buried specie when transient work crews moved between Highland Lakes projects. State Highway 29 bridge crossings at Inks Lake were completed in 1937. Coordinates approximate Inks Dam in central Burnet County between Buchanan Dam and Marble Falls.
