Description
Frontier school community at Hoover's Valley in western Burnet County; served ranch families before district consolidation.
Historical Notes
Hoover's Valley is named among the earliest Burnet County school locations in the Handbook of Texas. Western county ranch children attended common schools until independent districts absorbed rural districts. Fort Croghan guarded the Burnet frontier in the 1850s while scattered valley schools operated under constant Indian-threat conditions.
