Description
Historic Catholic parish in Llano; Father Anthony Goossens led a 1975 fund drive supported by actress Sophia Loren for church restoration.
Historical Notes
Llano grew from a frontier trading center in the 1870s to an iron-boom town in the 1890s. Holy Trinity Catholic Church became a Hill Country landmark when Sophia Loren, correspondent of Netherlands-native priest Anthony Goossens, contributed to a 1975 fundraising campaign. The 1893 Llano County courthouse is listed in the National Register of Historic Places alongside the jail, Southern Hotel, and Badu Building.
