Holt Treasure — Alvin

Lost Treasure TX • Brazoria County County
Description
Alvin legend of the Holt Treasure — a named buried hoard in south Houston's Brazoria County suburbs per regional treasure guides.
Historical Notes
Alvin was founded in 1893 as a Santa Fe railroad town in Brazoria County, southeast of Houston. The Holt family name appears in early Brazoria County land and probate records, though the treasure tale is folkloric rather than documented. The Rocker Box Brazoria County compilation lists the Holt Treasure as buried in Alvin. Guidebook sources do not agree on whether the hoard is pirate loot, oil money, or Reconstruction-era specie. Coordinates mark downtown Alvin. Much of the surrounding land is suburban development and rice country.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
