Hidden Mexican Gold Ingots — Comanche County

Lost Treasure OK • Comanche County County
Description
Wichita Mountains legend of chained iron doors and caves guarding Spanish or outlaw Mexican gold ingots south of Mount Pinchot — millions in bullion claimed by witnesses since the early 1900s.
Historical Notes
Witnesses since the early 1900s report an iron door with hinges and a heavy lock in the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge south of Treasure Lake near Indiahoma. Spanish versions describe slave-mined ingots and guarding spirits; outlaw versions claim Belle Starr dragged a train-car iron door into the mountains after a Denver mint shipment robbery. Prospector Silas Lee Isom spent seventy years searching. Jameson's "hidden Mexican gold ingots" chapter overlaps the iron-door and ingot traditions of the Wichita Mountains — distinct from the Blue River strongbox tale in Bryan County. Coordinates mark the refuge south of Lawton.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
