Henry Starr Cherokee Bad Boy Cache — Stevens County

Lost Treasure KS • Stevens County County
Description
Southwest Kansas legend of outlaw Henry Starr hiding early gang loot near the Cimarron River in Stevens County — "a place nobody could find it in a million years."
Historical Notes
Henry Starr, nephew of Belle Starr, robbed banks across Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Kansas from 1892 onward. Authorities recovered only a fraction of more than $20,000 taken in his first year. Starr said remaining loot was hidden near the border where nobody could find it. Researchers place the cache along the Cimarron River in northwest Stevens County near Hugoton. Starr claimed to have robbed more banks than the James-Younger and Dalton gangs combined before his 1921 death in Arkansas.
