Henry Nunez Ferry Hoard — Perdido River

Lost Treasure AL • Baldwin / Escambia County County
Description
South Alabama legend of Henry Nunez burying a fortune earned at his Perdido River ferry crossing — gold said hidden near the Seminole community before the hoard vanished from history.
Historical Notes
Henry Nunez operated a ferry on the Perdido River in the early nineteenth century when the Alabama-Florida border was still frontier. Digital Alabama reports tradition that Nunez accumulated substantial wealth from the crossing and buried it near his homestead in the Seminole area of Baldwin County. Swampy bottomland and shifting river channels have frustrated searchers. The legend overlaps with broader Gulf Coast smuggling and Indian trade routes.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
