Description
Methodist Episcopal church established at Hedwigs Hill in 1870; one of as many as three churches that once served the Llano River trading community.
Historical Notes
Hedwigs Hill was among the oldest settlements in Mason County, with a post office from 1858 to 1907. The 1870 Methodist church served ranch families along the southern Llano corridor. Anna Henriette Mebus Martin and Louis Martin's commercial empire at Hedwigs Hill made the community a freighting center between Fredericksburg, Mason, and Austin.
