Historical Notes
The Handbook of Texas names Hairston Creek, Pool Branch, Hoover's Valley, and Oatmeal among early Burnet County school communities before the district system of the 1890s. Large-scale consolidation of common-school districts into independent districts took place in Burnet County during the 1930s and 1940s.
