Description
Grotto is located in the northeast corner of the county. In sections 29, 30 and 31 of T26N R11E is the location of the Money Creek district. The Aaron lode gold mine is located here. In sections 20 and 29, in the stream gravels of Money Creek is the Money Creek Placer Mine. Near the headwaters of Money Creek, in SW 1/4 section 34 T26N R10E, in the Miller River District, is many old mines. The Apex Mine produced gold, copper, lead and sliver. It produced Lode gold, with antimony and silver. Eight miles up the Miller River from its mouth and 2 miles by trial, in section 13 T25N R10E, is the Coney Basin Mine. It consisted of 14 claims that produced gold as a by product of its copper, lead, silver and zinc mining.
