Granite Shoals Lake LBJ Resort Payroll — Burnet County

Lost Treasure TX • Burnet County County
Description
Granite Shoals legend of a Lake Lyndon B. Johnson resort payroll cache — the Burnet County lakefront community between Marble Falls and Kingsland.
Historical Notes
Granite Shoals developed on the shores of Lake Lyndon B. Johnson after Wirtz Dam was completed in the early 1950s. Burnet County lakefront subdivisions became popular retirement and vacation destinations, transforming the Colorado River valley below Marble Falls. Lake-resort payroll caches are staples of post-war Highland Lakes folklore where construction and hospitality workers moved weekly wages as cash. Granite Shoals lies on Farm Road 1431 between Marble Falls and Kingsland. Coordinates mark Granite Shoals on Lake LBJ in Burnet County west of Marble Falls.
