At the mouth of the George River, a tributary of the Kuskokwim river, between latitude 62�00' and 62�15' N and longitude 157�15' and 158�15' W, had a total production of around 14,500 ounces of placer and lode gold. On the upper reaches of the George River are some of the other rich placer deposits. In the central part of the Kuskokwim valley, about 45 miles South of Iditarod, in the Yukon River Valley there are some more rich placer deposits.
