Description
Cincinnati legend that Prohibition kingpin George Remus concealed as much as seventy million dollars in a hidden vault before his 1920s empire collapsed — the "King of the Bootleggers" never revealed the spot.
Historical Notes
George Remus built a whiskey and pharmacy empire from Cincinnati during Prohibition, amassing tens of millions before federal prosecution. Folklore says Remus cached a fortune in a secret vault on his Price Hill estate or nearby Cincinnati grounds. His 1927 murder trial and later life in Covington kept the vault legend alive among Hamilton County treasure guides.
