General John Morgan Civil War Gold Vincennes

Lost Treasure IN • Knox County County
Description
Vincennes legend that Confederate General John Morgan buried about $5,000 in gold coins during the Civil War at George Rogers Clark Historical Park south of town.
Historical Notes
Morgan's 1863 Great Raid crossed Indiana; Knox County folklore claims he concealed gold near the Wabash before retreating. Compiled guides place roughly five thousand dollars in coins at or near George Rogers Clark National Historical Park. The Clark memorial overlooks the Wabash where French, British, and American campaigns intersected — a natural setting for war-era payroll legends.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
